PM’s 'Parekhsha Pe Charcha' Event Shows A Way Forward: Dir SCERT

It should be regarded as an antidote to an excess of academic stress: Prof Veena Pandita

JAMMU- Lauding the Prime Minister Narender Modi’s much awaited “Parekhsha Pe Charcha” 2022 program, The Director State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K, Prof Veena Pandita, Friday, described the event as a “watershed” moment in the education history of the country.

PM Modi, in its fifth edition of the program held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, interacted with students, parents and teachers from all over the country and talked about pre-exam issues, such as preparation methods and managing stress.

Prof Pandita along with Joint Director, Surinder Kumar and other faculty members watched the event at the Conference Hall of the Division Office of the SCERT at Rehari, Jammu. Besides, the faculty members of all the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) watched the program at their respective offices.

“In today’s highly competitive world, while students are beset with various academic problems, the PM’s message to the students with regard to dealing with academic stress is a way forward for all of us,” Prof Pandita said.

The PM’s message, she said, is an antidote to an excess of academic stress that otherwise can lead to adverse effects.

Meanwhile, JD Surinder Kumar apprised the Director of the many different training programs for teachers with regard to the stress management among the young students.

Director School Education, Jammu, Dr Ravi Shankar JKAS, informed that over two lakh eighty five thousand students and twenty-eight thousand teachers and guardians from all the districts of the Jammu Division including those in the remotest parts watched the event.

“In the light of the ensuing examinations, Board and competitive as well, the PM’s address to the students is highly timely and assumes greater significance,” Dr Shankar said. “It will go a long way in instilling self confidence among the students whose examinations and other tests are just round the corner.”

The event was very well received in Kashmir Division also with a record number of students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders listening to the Prime Minister’s address. Elaborate arrangements to watch the live event were made well in advance at all the schools across the valley including the institutions like SCERT and DIETs.

Joint Director SCERT, Kashmir, Shams-ud-din Bhat, while hailing the PM’s address to the students, said his message of urging parents and teachers not to force their choices upon their children shall go a long way in relieving the stress among the students.

“The PM rightly pointed out that every child is blessed with something extraordinary that parents and teachers fail to pick up at times,” Bhat said.

Pariksha Pe Charcha is an annual event in which the Prime Minister responds to questions related to examination stress and related areas posed by students in his uniquely engaging style in a live program. The first three editions of the PPC were held in Delhi in an interactive town-hall format. The fourth edition was held online on April 7 last year.

“Outdated ideas and policies from the 20th century can't guide India's development trajectory in the 21st century,” he said. “National Education Policy (NEP) must have seen the involvement of so many people.”
